'Dolphliers' ........ A pair of Spinner Dolphin jump in the air, as they love to do, in the wake of the boat. Super playful and very entertaining, they are found iin pods of up to a hundred in Maui.
'Doors' ........ Probably Moraccan, North African for sure, this centuries old door and gate was a decorative piece in the lobby of Le Meridan Beach Plaza Hotel in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
'Down Under' ........ I love doing 'split shots'. Here a Pacific Green Turtle cruises towards me with a lovely Blackrock at Ka'anapali , Maui background.
'Egret Family' ........ April in Florida is abundant with wildlife and spring spawning is in full effect. This Great Egret family image was captured at Wacodahatchee Preserve in Delray beach.
'Egret in the Wind' ..... During Spring, at the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine Florida, many species of great birds can be found mating & birthing. This male White Egret is in full plummage, with the wind creating live art ....
'Eye' ........ There is no greater wonder possible than looking into the eye of a Humpback Whale, as its looking back at you. A spiritual experience!
'Face It!' ........ An apex preditator, this Great White Shark approaches within 10 feet to see if I could be a food source at Isla de Guadalupe, Mexico.
'Family of Five' ........ Five Spinner Dolphin, out of a pod of over a hundred, are busy jumping thru the wake of our boat. I have to anticipate the jump to get shots like this. A great challenge.
'Flaps Down' ........ Swimming out to the point of Blackrock, on Maui's Ka'anapali Beach, a beautiful Green Turtle pauses and floats effortlessly over the corals ....
'Flukie' ........ Most fluhe, or tail shots, are taken from the back with water drippimg off. I was pleased with this powerful fluke image taken from the front.
'Fredi Spyhop' ........ Every now and the, I get a chance at something like this. This Humpback Spyhopped next to our raft, connecting with the humans aboard, showing off in perfect conditions.
'Fredis Pecs' ........ I waited for years to get a chance at something like this. This Humpback spent 40 minutes, twice, showing off close to our boat in perfect conditions.
'Galaxy' ........ A beautiful Pacific Green Turtle rises in the blue, surrounded by a school of Butterfly Fish. Image was captured while diving the coral reefs of Bunaken National Park, Indonesia.
'Goober' ........ Green Turtles are common in Maui & comfortable with humans near popular beaches. This one & I were having a staring contest at Blackrock, Ka'anapali Beach..
'Great White Egret In Flight' ........ April in Florida is abundant with wildlife. This Great Egret image was captured at Wacodahatchee Preserve in Delray beach.
'His Highness' ........ As you drive up to Hana from Paia, there is a great stop called 'Garden of Eden'. Wonderful plants, flowers & some wildlife. This gorgeous Peacock lives there.
'Hokulea' ........ The famous Hawaiian sailing canoe, that circumnavigated the globe, passes in front of Lahaina on its way to Honoloa Bay for a Blessing.
'Honuloa' ........ Wonderful example of a Green Turtle's shell design taken at Honoloa Bay, on Maui. I suspect it was cleaned, as algae forms easily on Maui Turtles.
'If Pigs Could Swim' ........ Diving in the South Bahamas. we took a break from Oceanic Whitetip Sharks to check out 'Pig Island'. Waist deep in torquoise waters, pigs swimming all around, .. then this happened!
'Jaws' ........ Dec. 2009, massive swell provides Maui with one of the biggest wavesets in decades. Peahi ('Jaws'). 55 ft. face, captured a half mile offshore, with a 400mm lens.....
'Joy' ........ The title says it all. A beautiflly designed Humpback Whale joyously plays in the blue Hawaiian waters of the South Pacific Ocean.
'Jump For Joy' ........ Taken just outside Lahaina Harbor looking South towards Oluwalu. As the sun is about to break above the horizon, a Humpback Whale breaches.

'Learning To Breathe' ........ The first lesson a Humpback teaches her calf is where to get air. For the first week of so, Mom brings her baby to the surface every few minutes.

'Mantatrain' ........ A group of Reef Manta is cruising near the surface, in a mating formation, during the Spring in Maui. Smaller than Pelagic Manta, These are ten to twelve feet, wingtip to wingtip.
'Maui Storm' ........ Four solid weeks of torrential rain on Maui in 2011, & the sky finally opened. Shoreline was red with runoff. Photographed from Napili.
'Maui Winter' ....... Four miles from from Maui. I put my camera just below the surface as Humpaback and calf passes by. The top portion shows Maui, ocean on both sides.
'Maui Wowie' ........ As the sun begins to set behind Lanai, its casts its shadow onto Maui where a Humpback calf breaches below the rainbow sky ....
'Misool Buddy' ........ In the shallow lagoon, Misool Resort in Indonesia, young blacktip sharks swim with young turtles feeding on seagrass. My favorite dive area on Earth!
'Misool Reef Scene' ........ A great example of a healthy reef. Whitetips resting, cleaner shrimp, starfish and lovely corals, 'Magic Mountain', Misool, Raja Ampat, Indoneria.
'Morning Shadows' ........ Early morning palmtree shadows cast themselves upon the sands of Secret Beach, on Maui's southside. Gorgeous spot on Maui, it's also known as 'Wedding Beach'
'Murano Women' ........ Murano Island, in the Venice area of Italy, is world renown for its hand blown coloured glass. This street scene was spontaniously captured while walking to our boat.
'New Dancer' ........ Mostly all white or light gray, newborn Humpback are excited to explore their new wet enviroment right away.

'Octo Eye' ........ Octopuses tend to hide from predators in the coral and rocks of the reef. I was able to capture this detail of the eye & exhaust tube of this beauty without disturbing it. One of my favorite marine images.
'Octo' ........ A lovely pose by a Pacific Day Octopus in the waters off Slaughterhouse Beach, Westside Maui. South of Kapalua, an actual slaughter house was on the cliffs above, hence the name ...

'Palm' ........ Palm trees offer a myriad of textural possibilities. For this small palm tree image, I had to stand on a rock & rise on my toes to get this exact perspective.
'Peace' ........ South Of Lahaina, with the West Maui Mountains in the background, a lone Humpback 'steams out' away from the shore. Tranquility at its best.

'Rainbowsplash' Just off Lahaina, one dark rainey winter morning, the sky opened up and created this amazimg rainbow. A mile away, a humpback breach splash is seen.

'Ramp Model' ........ The Great Hammerhead Shark is one of the largest of the shark species. This 14 footer, seen here is being videoed by Jim Abernathy at Bimini, Bahamas
'Red Bridge' ........ Costa Rica has an amazing abundance and many different varieties of Nature. This is a wonderful scene in the Monteverde area.
'RedClown' ........ Anenomefish are a never-gets-old marine photo-op for me. I love the many different kinds of anenome backgrounds & the amazing varieties of Anenomefish.
'Reefscene' ........ One of the worlds best sharkdives is in Pacific Harbor, at Beqa Lagoon in Fiji. This is the scene at a depth of 12 feet, which is the safety stop of the 3 level dive.
'Rising Tiger' ........ Tiger Beach, in the Bahamas, is perhaps the best and most famous place to photograph Tigersharks. This graceful pose was captured there.
'Roseate Spoonbill' ........ April at The Alligator Farm in Saint Augustine, Florida in, is a safe haven for mating/hatching season for amazing birds. This gorgeous Roseate Spoonbill is off to gather twigs for her nest. Wonderful creature!
'Safe' ........ This particular image is one of my favs. At night, the anemone closes up & this clownfish was trying to hide in what part was left to hide in. You can see several glass shrimp on the anenome wall if you look closely.
'Secret Beach' ........ Located in Southwest Maui, and known as the most picturesque beach on Maui, Secret Beach (Wedding Beach) is a classic spot for sunsets. Notice Molokini Crater on the horizon....
'Spectrum' ........ Powerful West Maui Sunset colors dominate this view with Lanai in the distance. Photographed from above S-Turns Beach in Kahana ....
'Spinnerpod' ........ Off the Kona Coast, until 2022, swimming with Spinner dolphin was allowed. A buddy &I ran into this pod and we were able to do several 'drops'. These 2 were a couple of feet in front of me. Awesome!
'Spirit Tiger' ........ Backlit by the rays of the sun at the ocean surface, this adult Tigershark cruises overhead, creating majesic beauty.
'Starry Night' ....... Occasionally, I get to capture an image that I could'nt even imagined. This is one of those. The debris in the water, lit by my lights, presents as stars in a starry sky. Add a gorgeous anenome with fish & Voila!
'Surface' ........ I look for different images when photographing turtles. This unique capture, shows an unusual reflection on the underside of the surface with cloudy sky above.
'Sweetie' ........ Late in the afternoon, the sun is beginning to set behind Lanai. At Blackrock, Ka'anapali Beach, the angle of light into the shore makes possible images of Green Turtles in the rocks, lit like this.
'The Boss' ........ Blackrock, North end of Ka'anapali Beach, provides a great opportunities to photograph relaxed Maui turtles with good backgrounds. This guy rules ...
'The Color Purple' ........ Two Ocellaris Clownfish, safe in a beautiful purple anenome. There are many different anenomes & anenomefish. Taken in Bali.
'The Dream' ........ Another image I couldnt've imagined, this one is special. Found only in the Banggai Archipelago of Indonesia and The Lembeh Strait, these Banggai Cardinalfish swim into the current, as the anemome is blown in the other direction.
'The Green Wall' ........ A great example of Marine Nature posing as Art. An single anenomefish makes its way across a beautiful green anenome, as a gentle current creates an ever-changing background.

'Three Bears' ........ Not far above Paia, along the Road to Hana, is a lovely pool with three waterfalls and beautiful green water .... So lush!
'Three's A Crowd' ........ Basically a traffic jam in the Bahamas! Three species of shark, a Carribean Reef, A Lemon and a Tiger all converge at Tiger Beach.
'Tiger Beach Scene' ........ Sometimes the creatures in the ocean pose in a way that makes for what I call art. But ya gotta be there! A beautiful Tigershark scatters a school of fishes...

'Unicorn Duo' ........ My favorite Hawaiian reeffish, thesed two Unicorn Tangs strike a 'Hero Pose'. While super colorful, and amazingly designed, they are a bit challenging to photograph.
'Unicorn Trio' ........ What began as a buisness card design, became a best seller! An automatic smile... I combined two Unicorn Tang images and folks love it as a print.
'Unicorn' ........ A straight on image of a very picturesque Unicorn Fish. The light in the water, on this particular day at West Mauis' Blackrock, created a almost Pixar Cartoon effect.
'Venetian Windows' ........ I simply love Venice! One of the best places on the planet for overwhelming varieties of light, shapes & color. A balcony window with doors, flowers and a tattered Pax flag ...
'Watershed' ........ My first 'whale art' image. The beauty here is actually aggression, as it portrays one male Humpback attacking another at great speed to create this 'wall of water!
